Brockville – On Tuesday, October 9th, the Brockville General Volunteer Association (BGVA) presented their annual $20,000 cheque to the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation (BDHF) in support of Brockville General Hospital’s Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Program.
The Brockville Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Program started in May 2009, and is a customized program to assist patients in getting their life back following a cardiac event. While in the program, patients receive assistance with exercise; nutrition from the BGH dietitian; diabetes education and help with quitting smoking.
The program is free for the participants, however costs $180,000 to operate. BGH’s Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Program receives no government funding and is supported by businesses, donations, service groups and the community.
