Hosted at Happy Green Acres Campground Thursday July 9th – Sunday July 12, 2020, Big River Country Festival adds legendary Lisa Brokop as Sunday evening headliner!
Brockville –It’s not often – in fact, some might say very rare – for an artist to have an enduring musical career. In a day and age when most artists barely flicker for a moment before fading out of the spotlight, Lisa Brokop is set to celebrate 20 remarkable years of singing, songwriting and performing.
In 2016, Brokop put together the new musical venture, “Lisa Brokop: The Patsy Cline Project” where Lisa pays homage to one of country music’s greatest ladies with some of Cline’s classic hits like “Sweet Dreams” and “Walkin After Midnight” as well as some of her own material specifically written for the project.
“I’ve come full circle with this project”, Brokop says. ” When I first started singing, I would sing some of Patsy’s song because I didn’t have my own. They are still among some of my favorites today and I am so excited to have the opportunity to honor this amazing lady and the incredible music she gave us!”.
A brand new single from Lisa Brokop has just been released to country radio!!!!
“Who’s Gonna Fill Their Heels” is a remake of the George Jones classic, ‘Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes, that honors many of our male country legends. After hearing the song and being reminded how great it was, Lisa was struck by the fact that there weren’t any of our legendary ladies mentioned in the song. But that has all been changed with this fresh new spin on a great country classic! “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Heels” is sure to take every listener back to the very heart of traditional country music!

Also joining next summer’s lineup is an incredibly talented and fresh emerging artist, Rebecca Rain. Most recently a Top 8 Finalist in the 2019 Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase we are thrilled have this young lady in our lineup.
For Rebecca Rain, there are three things that matter most – family, the small town she grew up in, and music. While that list may read like different things, in a very real way they are all simply parts of the same whole that drives her passion. That’s because there’s something about growing up in a small town… The lines between family, friends and strangers are drawn thinner and lighter – strangers become friends, friends become family, and family is inseparable from one’s self. Part of the package of growing up with the small-town life for Rebecca was a very early exposure to country music.
Drawing influences from childhood favourites like Loretta Lynn, June Carter Cash, and Patsy Cline, Miss Rain has crafted a sound that is equally modern and traditional, all delivered by a voice that is hauntingly pure, and with a reflective song writing style wise beyond her years. “Being immersed in a musical family from a young age shaped who I am today.” says Rebecca “When I sing about love, loss, heartache or longing I’m singing about the experiences that we’ve all been through together. And, when it’s time to turn up the volume and get the boots stomping a little harder, growing up as the only sister to 3 brothers sure didn’t hurt.”
With all the places that Rebecca’s music has, and will continue to take her, she is grounded by the strength of her roots, and in knowing that eventually, all roads lead to home…

About Big River Country Music Festival
Big River Country Music Festival will see country music return to the 1000 Islands region for the first time since 2015 when Capital Country Fest brought some of Canada’s best country artists to Spencerville.
“We wanted to offer an entertaining mix of some old & new country in a smaller festival setting. The goal was to provide an opportunity for some up and coming artists to get come stage time along with some, more seasoned, established artists and, just a for fun, throw in a sprinkle of non-traditional bluegrass. We wanted to offer an event where the fans could be up close & personal with all the performers, something not always possible at larger events. Of course, we just love blending camping with live music, they seem to go together!” says Henry Boer, founder of the Big River Country Festival.
