Longtime Conservative MP Gord Brown, left us all suddenly, earlier this year, on the morning of May 2nd at the young age of 57 years.
Gord was active in sports, played hockey throughout the winter and loved to golf and go kayaking in the summer. He was the Canadian Kayaking champion with the Gananoque Canoe club.
He held a position on the Gananoque Town council as well as the position of President of the 1000 Islands Gananoque Chamber of Commerce and chair of the St. Lawrence Parks Commission before deciding to enter federal politics.
Once on Parliament Hill, he served on a number of committes including human resources, heritage, safety and security, as well as holding the position of chair on a special committee that reviewed federal anit-terrorism legislation. He was universally well-liked and loved by his colleagues, no matter their party, in Parliament.
We look forward to recognizing the late Gord Brown, at the Awards of Excellence Gala being held on Thursday, November 8th at the Brockville Memorial Centre where we will also be announcing the recipients for: Business of The Year, Small Business of the Year, Community Excellence Award and the Tourism Award.
