Brockville –The Every Kid in our Communities (EKIOC) Coalition held their third annual “Recognition of Asset Builders” Celebration on Sunday April 30th, 2017 at 12 pm at the Healthy Kids Day, hosted by the YMCA of Brockville and Area. This event was an opportunity to celebrate and honour organizations and people, who make a difference in the lives of children and youth – in other words they build assets!
Through a public nomination process, the following eighteen “asset builders” were identified and recognized: (photo attached but names not in order) Dr. Donaleen Hawes, Karen Coates, Louise Bonvie, Lisa Cirka, Brandy Smith, Sue Kennedy, Bev Heuving, Ray Scott, Sonya Clark, Kimberly Marshall, Rebecca Shams, Katie Cooper, Adrian Smith, Karie Smail, William French, Brockville Police Service, Kemptville Area Family Resource Centre, Connect Youth.
Tawnya Boileau, Chair of the EKIOC Developmental Assets Work Group says: “It takes a village to raise a child, and we are very lucky to have so many community members who are doing their part to support and raise healthy, caring, responsible, and resilient children and youth.”
