Brockville – Police reports from the Brockville Police Service from August 29 to 30, 2018.
This long weekend officers will be joining their provincial counterparts and will pay special attention to distracted drivers during their long weekend safety blitz targeting distracted driving.
Ontario data on collisions from 2013 show:
- one person is injured in a distracted-driving collision every half hour
- a driver using a phone is four times more likely to crash than a driver focusing on the road.
Officers routinely conduct compliance checks for charged or convicted persons and are on conditions such as curfews or house arrest.
Members of our service conducted several checks in our community last night and found one 39 year old male to be in breach of his conditions as he was not in his residence when the officers checked. The 39 year old is currently before the courts for assault and uttering threats.
He will now face an additional charge of failing to comply with his recognizance of bail.
