Brockville – Police reports from the Brockville Police Service from August 14 – 15, 2019.
The Brockville Police Service responded to a theft complaint at the Brockville Public Library around 12:40 p.m. August 14th. The complainant had left their cell phone in one of the charging stations and when they went to retrieve they discovered it was gone. The suspect was identified through CCTV footage. Officers located the male shortly after 2:00 p.m. The 20 year old male was arrested for theft and held in custody as he was on a bail release from previous charges.
Located with the above male was a 42 year old male from the Cobourg area. The male had been previously identified as a suspect in a theft from the LCBO on Parkedale Avenue. He was arrested for that theft occurrence. A search incident to arrest led to the discovery of a quantity of counterfeit US bills. He was subsequently charged for being in possession of those bills.
These bills have been circulating throughout the city. They are easily identifiable as they have oriental writing on them.
On August 14th 2019 at 7:30 a.m. police were called to the Circle K convenience store on King St. for a disturbance. The caller indicated that a male with an expandable confronted a person in a black pickup truck. The suspect extended the baton and was yelling at the driver of the pickup truck. The driver then attempted to drive away as the suspect jumped in the bed of the truck and smashed out the back window of the truck. The vehicle left the area with the suspect in the back of the pickup truck.
That vehicle was later stopped by an officer with the suspect driving. It turns out that the suspect was the owner of the vehicle and had loaned the pickup out. When the vehicle was not returned to the suspect on the agreed upon time, he decided to confront the driver on his own, smashing his own truck window out. The 36 year old male was charged with weapons dangerous and released with a future court date.
