2018 Lifetime Business Achievement Award being Given Out to Bob Runciman During AGM!
Brockville – The Brockville and District Chamber of Commerce is hosting it’s annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, March 29th at the Brockville Country Club.
Join the chamber as they welcome the new board of directors, President’s report, financial report and outlook for 2018.
As well the breakfast meeting will see a special recognition ceremony honouring Bob Runciman with the Lifetime Business Achievement Award.
This award is sponsored by the 1000 islands Community Development Corporation and recipients are chosen by an independent committee of judges following review and assessment of multiple criteria including community impact, mentorship, economic Impact, Job creation, volunteerism, longevity and personal/corporate generosity.
Mr. Runcman is a widely respected veteran politician and former leader of the offical opposition in the Ontario Legislature. First elected to the Legislative Assembly in Ontario in 1981, he held the seat continuously for the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario for the next 29 years.
On January 29, 2010 he was appointed to a federal legislative position to the Senate of Canada where for five and a half years he chaired the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committee. Mr. Runciman retired from the Senate of Canada on August 10, 2017.
He is presently championing local efforts to secure an international water ferry for bicycle traffic and he recently joined the 1000 Islands Community Development Corporation volunteer board of directors.
Registration & Networking at 7:00am followed by breakfast and the meeting at 7:30am. Cost is $25 (HST incl.) and $30 (HST incl.) for non-members.
