If you need emergency care, BGH is a safe place for you to get the care you need.
Brockville – It is understandable that you want to minimize your risk, but if you have a serious ailment and need medical care, we encourage you to come to our Emergency Department.
Visits to our Emergency Department have reduced since the rise of COVID-19. Please be aware, our service continues to be available to our community 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. You are safe to receive care when you need it and we have taken extra precautions, such as increased cleaning and enhances personal protective equipment to keep everyone safe.
However, if you do come to our Emergency Department, please consider if you need a support person. If you do not, please avoid bringing extra people into the Hospital. For every additional person entering our buildings, it increases the transition of illness to all of our patient and staff. This is one reason why we have also restricted visitors to the hospital.
Support person when going to Emergency
People who need additional support, including mobility, emotional/physiological support, and children are encouraged to bring one friend or family member. Your support person will be required to pass our screening tests before entering the building.
BGH continues to provide care to outpatients with urgent care needs.
If you are coming to BGH as an outpatient, whether for an appointment or procedure, we are unable to accommodate a support person. This helps to minimize the risk of transmitting COVID-19 to our vulnerable patients and healthcare workers.
Our staff would be happy to provide you with wheelchair or mobility assistance. If you would like a loved one to participate in the discussion regarding your appointment, we can arrange to call them.
Thank you for your patience and understanding at this difficult time. For more updates, visit www.brockvillegeneralhosptial.ca/coronavirus.
