Brockville – The Brockville and District Hospital Foundation (BDHF), Campaign Co-Chairs, David Beatty and Mary Jean McFall, and the Campaign Cabinet are thrilled to announce that the community share of $20,000,000 for the Brockville General Hospital’s Phase II Redevelopment Project has not only been reached but surpassed its goal.
A humbling total of $20,500,000 was first announced at the Gathering of Gratitude event held last evening kindly sponsored by Tomlinson. During the event, two additional donations were made by Ellis Don; with a $75,000 donation, and an additional donation of $30,000 from the Town of Prescott; bringing the total to $20,605,000. These generous commitments will not be realized until 2031.
The Campaign Cabinet, and the BDHF, have been working diligently behind the scenes to secure internal support. The internal support has included: the municipalities; the Foundation and BGH Boards, and the Campaign Cabinet Members. The Cabinet and the BDHF have also been humbled by the generosity of individuals and businesses that are part of this historic announcement today.
“No words can appropriately express our gratitude to the communities of Leeds and Grenville, our donors and internal stakeholders that have made this all possible,” noted Co-Chair David Beatty. With a $10 million commitment by the Foundation secured through donor funds; a $4.76 million commitment by the City of Brockville; a $2.12 million commitment by the United Counties and financial commitments by the Towns of Prescott and Gananoque, what seemed like a daunting goal, quickly became a reality. By adopting the approach of seeking the support of the municipalities, the Cabinet has been able to minimize the impact a public campaign would have on other charitable organizations in its communities, fulfilling a promise made to the municipalities and its citizens.
“The support of Leeds and Grenville is an acknowledgement by its citizens of the importance of this project and the magnitude of this historic investment in our community hospital,” commented Co-Chair Mary Jean McFall.
The goal of the Redevelopment Project is to amalgamate the services of the Brockville General Hospital presently provided at both the Charles Street and Garden Street Sites. The vision of having all of Brockville General Hospital’s services “Under One Roof” is now a reality. The project’s completion is slated for the fall of 2020.
