Barrett Re-elected in Leeds-Grenville, Thousand Islands & Rideau Lakes

Liberals Win Minority Government

Brockville – Conservative Michael Barrett was re-elected last night in the 2019 Federal Election for Leeds-Grenville, Thousand Islands & Rideau Lakes with 28,435 votes or 49.2%. The Liberals Josh Bennett came in second place with 15, 266 votes or 26.4%.

The NDP’s Michelle Taylor had 8,071 votes/14% for third followed by The Green Party candidate Lorraine Rekmans with 5,049 votes/8.7% and the People’s Party’s Evan Hindle had 978 votes/1.7%.

According to Elections Canada voter turnout for the riding was 57,799 of 84,442 registered electors or 68.45 %, (does not include electors who registered on election day.)

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau has managed to hold on to power, winning a minority government in last night’s election.
