PLEASE NOTE: Water Street in this area will be closed on Sunday morning to traffic, except local traffic. Blockhouse Island will also be closed to traffic during the event! As well the tunnel will be closed to the public during the event Sunday morning!
Brockville – The 2019 Thousand Islands Triathlon & Duathlon is being held this Sunday, August 18th in Downtown Brockville.
Runners will be running a course which includes Brockville’s historic railway tunnel.
Please note, Water street in that area will be closed to traffic except local traffic.
Everything gets underway with the Olympic Triathlon, Olympic Relay and Olympic SwimCycle at 8:30am. The Super Sprint Triathlon begins at 9:00am, followed by Try A Tri: at 9:02am, Sprint Duathlon at 9:05am and the Wylie Ryan 1 Km Kids’ Run at 9:06am.
The Sprint Triathlon & SwimCycle* will start for the Men at 9:10am and the Women & Relay at 9:15am. *AFTER the Super Sprint and Try A Tri are clear of the course.
The 750m and 1500m swims are in the St. Lawrence River. Both swims begin at the boat ramp adjacent to the T-Zone with a deep water start. The swim course is a triangle of 750m, which the Olympic Triathlon participants swim twice. The exit ramp is a concrete slab that allows participants to walk out of the water. The 200m swim is on a triangle course near shore.
The 20.7K bike is an out and back course. Cyclists exit the transition zone onto Water Street, which is closed to all but local traffic during the event (first and last 500m). They head East on Water Street to Ford Street where they turn left and go up a short steep hill to King Street. They turn right onto King Street East (Highway 2), and proceed to the turn around.
The 40.2K cyclists do two loops of the 20.7K course.
