Brockville – The annual ‘Take Back The Night’ hosted by Victim Issues Coordinating Committee of Leeds & Grenville is being held tonight, (Friday night) at Hardy Park in Downtown Brockville.
The event runs from 5:30pm to 9:00pm and is an event to symbolize women’s rights to be where they want, when they want and how they want in a world where there is no violence.
There will be live music by Dan Schaafsma, Glow in the dark Zumba by Meredith Armstrong – YMCA, Free BBQ, cotton candy, and popcorn (while supplies last), Activity Zone and a Rally & walk to finish the night. The march route for Take Back The Night 2017 will travel from Hardy Park to City Hall and back. The Rally & March portion of the night begins around 8pm.
All across Canada, Take Back the Night events will be taking place throughout the month of September. Events can include marches, rallies, candlelight vigils and are designed to raise awareness of the safety issues women and children face in our country. Take Back the Night is about women reclaiming the right to be free of violence and be able to be wherever they may choose to be at night without being fearful.
