New stage gives the local music & performing arts community another option of venues in the city
Brockville – St. John’s United Church in Brockville is strategically planning for the future for the 182 year-old church.
They have just completed a remodeling inside of the church to accommodate a new stage for local performances, theatre and music, replacing the choir loft.
All of this came about after a part of the ceiling collapsed in early January, 2013. The repairs left the church, which sees on average close to 80 people attending on Sundays, with debt and left them with a choice to make.
St. John’s United Church hosted its first production in March, Michael Healey’s The Drawer Boy on the partially completed stage. They just fisnhed with the wings of the stage, which adds more stage space. The new stage gives the local music and performing arts community another option of venues in the city.
Ten different events are schedule this fall to use the 200 seat church and new stage.
