A Freezing Rain Warning is in Effect For Brockville, Leeds-Grenville, Smiths Falls, Lanark and Kingston For Later Today

Ottawa – A Freezing rain warning is in effect for Brockville, Leeds-Grenville, Smiths Falls, Lanark and Kingston for later today.

Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected or occurring in all warning areas.

Brockville – Prescott, Merrickville-Wolford – Kemptville, Smiths Falls and Eastern Lanark County:

Snow and ice pellets will begin late this afternoon, then change quickly to freezing rain. Freezing rain accretion of 2 to 5 mm is possible on untreated surfaces. Freezing rain will change back to snow overnight.

Gananoque – Mallorytown, Westport – Charleston Lake, Western Lanark County & Kingston:

Freezing rain will begin this morning or early this afternoon. Some areas may see a brief period of snow before the freezing rain begins. Freezing rain accretion of 2 to 5 mm is possible on untreated surfaces. Freezing rain will change to snow or freezing drizzle this evening or overnight.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas. Beware of branches or electrical wires that could break under the weight of ice. Utility outages may occur.
