Smiths Falls – The 8th Annual Smiths Falls Trainfest was held over the weekend at the Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario in Smiths Falls.
The event saw large crowds come out for train rides, kids activities, model trains on display, various vendors and exhibitors.
Train rides were offered on both days pulled by the museum’s Montreal Locomotive Works S3 diesel engine 6591.
On Saturday there was a special event to celebrate Canada 150. There was a special move of the museum’s Canadian Northern 1112 steam locomotive. It was coupled in front of 6591 and moved through an official ribbon.
As well, new this year was the Trainfest – Afterdark held on Saturday night at the Rideau Canal Visitor’s Centre theatre. It featured an evening of music and storytelling with a railway theme.
