Athens – The 38th Annual Farmersville Exhibition was held over the weekend in Athens at the Centennial Fairgrounds.
The annual event also know as the “Steam Fair” had a lot to see, but something was missing. Over the years actual steam engines have declined and this year was no different. There was only one this year, Tom Quinnell’s steam engine, a 1911 Case steam engine from Huntingdon, Quebec.
Organizers say attendance was down this year, citing weather. Those that did attend over the three days had a chance to to take in a car show, tractor-pull, vendors, craft show, tractor and vintage truck displays and a horse pull on Sunday which saw 20 teams participating.
Exhibitors came from Quebec, Northern Ontario, New York state and New Hampshire.
One of the exhibitors that is popular with the crowd was Floyd Dixon’s log-cutting demonstration.
