Leeds-Grenville – Canadians celebrate Canada’s 152nd birthday on Monday, July 1st and there are many events planned to celebrate throughout the Leeds and Grenville area tomorrow.
The annual Canada Day procession will start from City Hall at 11:45am and march down King Street to CourtHouse Ave, to the CourtHouse Green for the official Canada Day Ceremony.
The procession will feature the Brockville Infantry Company, the Brockville Pipe Band, members of the Brockville Rifles, Brockville Police Service and local dignitaries.
At the end of the ceremony the annual Canada Day cake will be served.
In Hardy Park the first annual MS Teddy Bear Festival is being held from 11:00am to 4:00pm. A pancake breakfast will be served from 8:00am to 11:00am, followed by many activities including, a bike decorating contest, kids yoga and a teddy bear parade.
The annual Canada Day 1k/5k run is being held starting at 8:45am with the Kids 1k followed at 9 for the 5k run. There is a new location this year. Instead of starting at Blockhouse, the run is moving to the north end starting at Rotary Field House by the Pat Beasley Soccer Fields on Laurier Blvd. The run itself will be mainly on the paved Brock Trail in that area of the north end.
To wrap up the day the annual fireworks display at the waterfront is being held starting between between 9:30 and 10 p.m. In the event of high winds or potential for lightning, the fireworks will be postponed to the following evening of July 2.
Fort Wellington will be open free to the public, starting at 10:00am
The fort will have activities from 10:00am to 2:00pm including face painting, historical games, scavenger hunt and crafts. There will also be a cannon firing at noon followed by a children’s muster and mock battle at 2:00pm.
The Fort Town Fireworks will begin at 9:30pm along the waterfront.
The 1000 Islands Ribfest continues on Canada Day in the Town Park.
There will be a free concert starting at 9:00pm at Joel Stone Park which will feature local band Chickenwire. The day will conclude with the annual fireworks display at 10:00pm.
There will be Canada Day celebrations throughout the day at Riverside Park including, a pancake breakfast from 8:00am to 10:00am, Flag Raising Ceremony hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion at 10:30am, Highway 43 Car Club Display, live music and much, much more.
The Canada Day Parade starts at 4:00pm.
There will also be Canada Day celebrations at Maplewood Park in Oxford Mills.
There will be Canada Day celebrations across the Township of Rideau Lakes including delta at Lower Beverly Lake Park, Chaffeys Lock, Forfar, Newboro, and North Crosby.
As well the 21st annual Rideau Lakes Studio Tour is on all weekend.

So many activities happening this Canada Day in Westport for all to enjoy!
Kick off Canada Day with Breakfast in the Village starting at 8:00 a.m. with lots of delicious offerings. You can enjoy a sausage bun, peameal bacon bun, strawberry crepes with local maple syrup and juice. A meal deal will be offered at $5.00 with all proceeds to go toward community projects.
There will also be Children’s activities being held at the Lions Beach, Helicopter rides at Airfield on County Rd 10, BBQ, Elvis, Music at Rideau Vista School and Fireworks at Rideau Vista School starting at 9:00pm.
Leeds & 1000 Islands:
The annual Seeley’s Bay Canada Day Celebrations are being held on Monday starting at 8:00am.
Events kick off at 8:00am at Seeley’s Bay Centennial Park. There will be a kids fishing derby, volleyball tournament, parade, vendors, BBQ and more! Fireworks will take place from the Harbour starting at dusk.

Cardinal is celebrating Canada Day with a number of activities. Start off with the Legion Ladies Auxiliary Breakfast starting at 8:00am till noon.
As well there will be kids races at 11:00am, Volleyball at 1:00pm, Horseshoes, horse races, live music, a BBQ and fireworks at dusk.
