Forthton – The 14th Annual Rett Syndrome Golf Tournament is being held this Saturday, August 26th at the Cedar Valley Golf & Country Club on Forthton.
The fundraising event runs from 1:30pm to 5:00pm raising money for the “The Jessica Carr Rett Syndrome Research Fund” at CHEO.
Jessica Carr is 15 1/2 years old and lives with Rett Syndrome, a complex neurological disorder found almost exclusively in girls. Some symptoms of the syndrome are loss of speech, loss of motor and hand skills and physical disabilities.
Shot Gun Start: 1:30 p.m. – Best Ball
Early flight may be added if needed.
Dinner: 5:00 p.m.
Cost: for 9 holes of golf and steak or 1/2 chicken dinner

Rett Syndrome is a very rare disease, and Jessica has a very rare Rett Mutation, which has become very important to researchers. She has participated in four research projects in the past few years as her mutation is very valuable as a test control for many of these projects.
