North Augusta – The 11th annual Charity ATV Poker Run will be held on Saturday, Aug. 25. All-terrain vehicle enthusiasts are invited to hit the trail in the North Augusta area while supporting Brockville palliative care services that are available to residents of the Leeds and Grenville area.
The poker run starts and finishes in a field at 10101 Jellyby Rd., which is just west of County Road 15 and near the intersection of Rocksprings Road. Participants can register there from 10 a.m. until noon on the 25th and head out on the 55-km trail any time after 10. The route is side-by-side friendly.
Each participant will draw a playing card at checkpoints on the trail and at the end of the run. The top three poker hands win prizes of $100, $75 and $50 respectively. There is a barbecue at the registration area where food and drinks will be sold, and many door prizes donated by local businesses will be handed out. The event will proceed rain or shine.
The entry fee is $15 per person. Additional poker hands can be purchased. All proceeds go to local palliative care services at BGH and in the community. The 2017 poker run attracted about 280 ATVs and raised more than $7,200 for palliative care. The first 10 runs generated a total of more than $40,000 in support of local causes.
