Lansdowne – Building on the success of last year, the second annual Seniors Expo is scheduled for June 10th in the Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands. The expo aims to introduce seniors, their families, friends and caregivers to local activities and resources. “This one-stop shop of goods and services available to seniors in our Township is a must-see event,” notes Mayor Joe Baptista.
The 2nd Annual Expo coincides with Seniors’ Month in Ontario and features formal presentations, guest speakers, information booths, refreshments and door prizes. It also offers an opportunity for seniors to participate in developing the Township’s Age-Friendly Community Action Plan to improve the quality of life for seniors in the Township.
Last year 18 exhibitors, five presenters and approximately 80 attendees visited the expo. “Attendees were delighted to learn of the many services already offered in our community,” comments Recreation Coordinator, Kim Goodman. “By getting the word out, we are showing that regardless of age, we are a great place to live, work and play,” Ms. Goodman concludes.
The Seniors Expo takes place at the Lansdowne Community Hall, 1 Jessie Street, on Saturday June 10th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Admission is free and bussing to and from the event is available from Seeley’s Bay, Lyndhurst, Rockport and the Gananoque area. Please contact Kim at the Township to confirm bus stops and times.
A call for exhibitors has gone out and the hall is filling fast. If you or someone you know would like to register to showcase your goods, services or support to seniors, please register online or contact Kim Goodman.
