Outlet Boat Ramp Re-opens Today

Kingston – The Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA) has re-opened the Outlet Boat Ramp on Charleston Lake as of today, Oct. 4, after contractors completed work on the structure earlier in the week.

The Outlet Boat Ramp is located at the south end of Charleston Lake along Leeds & Grenville County Road 3. It had been closed to the public since Sept. 24 to allow for the installation of a new floating dock and abutment. The work was necessary as the previous dock at the Outlet of Charleston Lake was a wooden post pile structure that had reached the end of its viable service life. It was also inaccessible during times of higher water levels and the new, permanent floating dock structure was installed to improve access.

CRCA Board member for the Township of Leeds & The Thousand Islands Gerry Last said she was glad the work has been done to improve the viability, longevity and effectiveness of the boat ramp.

“And I know local residents and visitors to the region are thrilled because it means we now have a safer, more stable and well-constructed facility that can be used for many years to come,” said Last.

The CRCA appreciates the understanding and co-operation by members of public during the construction period.
