Kingston – The Kingston Lapidary and Mineral Club will host their 49th annual Gem Storm this weekend at the Cataraqui Arena in Kingston. The show will be held from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday, and from 10 am until 5 pm on Sunday.
At our new venue at the Cataraqui Arena, we will have a wonderful large floor space with over 45 vendors from Ontario and Quebec. We have also been able to incorporate many of our club members, selling their unique handmade items for sale. Please mark this date in your calendar and plan on attending. This is an excellent opportunity to shop for unique jewelry, special minerals, fossils, crystals or gemstone carvings that you’ve been looking for. For the children, our children’s mine provides an excellent opportunity to begin their own mineral collection. We also have a jewelry workshop where you can create your own unique beaded jewelry.
An added feature this year is the drawing for 2 grand prizes. Each grand prize (approximate value, $145) consists of a 1-year membership to the Kingston Lapidary and Mineral Club (extended to December 2019), a silversmithing course (15 hours), and the piece of sterling silver required for the course. Winners must be 14 years or older and able to attend a course at the club workshop in Kingston, Ontario. The course must be completed by December 31, 2019. Full details will be available at the show.
Admission is $5 per person with children under 12 free when accompanied by an adult. At the Arena, there is ample free parking available. We will also have an ATM and a food truck onsite. The building is wheelchair accessible and of course non- smoking.
