Winchester – Congratulations to Laura Landry, WDMH’s Clinical Manager of Outpatient Services, who has completed her Master of Health Administration degree at the Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa (U of O).
“As a frontline nurse I recognized that there was a whole part of the hospital that I wanted to know more about – so I started asking questions,” explains Laura. “When I transitioned into my current role, I chose this degree to fill in the gaps in my knowledge. I have learned so much about things such as hospital governance, how hospital decisions are made, how funding works and how to ensure excellence in project management. I’m excited to apply what I have learned and share it with my colleagues.”
Laura also received the MHA Alumni Association’s Leadership Award, recognizing her residency project on the implementation of an acute pain service in a hospital setting. “It was an absolute honour to win this award,” says Laura. “I hope that these learnings will support patients at WDMH.”
“We are very proud of Laura,” sums up Lynn Hall, Senior Vice President, Clinical Services. “WDMH offers a learning environment – both for students and for staff who want to pursue ongoing learning opportunities. Our patients benefit from this added expertise.”
Congratulations Laura! If you would like to provide comments or suggestions about hospital services, contact Cholly Boland, President and CEO, WDMH at 613.774.1049 or by email at email@example.com.
