Whether you grow your own or purchase from others there is no question that vegetables and fruit are a very important part of a healthy eating pattern. Fill half your plate with vegetables and some fruit and you will have a variety of color, texture, taste, vitamins, minerals and fibre.
Keep in mind the darker the colour, the higher the vegetable or fruit is in nutrients. Parents know that your kids are watching. If kids see you enjoying vegetables they’ll try them too. And do remember, no matter where your fresh vegetables and fruit come from all you need to wash them before eating or cooking is cool, running, safe water.
